About me..
To all of you who don't know me, I'm Elia Naomi.
My acquaintances call me Naomi and some teachers, refer to me as Elia. Besides, those who are fond of me may allow themselves to call me a variety of nicknames which I mostly enjoy and will definitely not mention. :)
even though there are times of the day
when I'm physically incapable of doing so. My limbs are too stiff that my attempts to gracefully move it (like the song) are nothing but an embarrassment.
Another fact is that I love the sky as well as nature.
I'm in love with water in general, being it rain, or lakes or the sea. Tears don't count.
When it comes to teaching, I have what you would call some experience. Here I am with my students from the last bimester at CELEX. As you can see we're about the same age. It's always fun to enter the classroom on the first day and see their confused faces due to this. :)
I'm behind the guy in pink, he stole the show, to be honest. |
My first approach to teaching was very young when I would insist on "teaching" my brother how to read, using a book named "Juguemos a leer", how convenient. I recall being overly excited when doing so as well as my brother being entertained with what felt for me like a grandiose task.
Such good memories |
Later on, in life, as a child, I experienced teaching from the eyes of my aunt, who was a primary teacher. She used to prepare her classes with a lot of love and would never give up on her kids. Something really nice on paper or seen from afar but hard to actually do.
After those formative years, I decided that I wanted to become a teacher too so here I was at this church where they needed an English teacher. I was 17 and felt extremely motivated because English Teaching was now my major. By the way, it's important to mention that I wouldn't have made it without the help of a LEI graduate who assisted me to prepare my lessons and gave me tips during all the time I was there.
Putting things into perspective, I wasn't that good at teaching but it was a beginning, we all start being regular at something or even worse, like I was.
Later I started working for a private school and learned a lot about time management and lesson planning. My first lesson plans were far from how good they were supposed to be but it was a learning time I won't forget.
Nowadays, I'm working at a CELEX and I have found the experience quite challenging and enriching. <3
To conclude this post, related to this subject, I want to put myself to the test and get out of my comfort zone. My expectations are to receive constructive feedback, suggestions, and lessons that help me reflect on and improve my teaching. I'll give my everything for this to work the best it possibly can.
✌️
I've known you for three years and I can say that you have what its needed for English teaching. In addition, I think your personality adds something fun to your teachings! I can imagine it.
ReplyDeleteIf everything goes the way they should, we'll remain parters but with certain changes such as a different environment and I'm looking forward to the new challenges that will bring. Nao! Would you take those challenges with me as we once did in the morning shift? :D
